Advanced materialography and hardness testing: Phase transitions in titanium – COMMERCIAL

In this work, we focus on commercially pure titanium. Full characterization of the microstructure is performed using Struers products. Apart from the scientific outcomes, an emphasis is placed on the methodology of the materialographic preparation and the hardness testing of the samples. Common problems of the sample preparation are discussed and the solutions are proposed. Wide range of preparation methods for this material is shown using the whole Struers portfolio. Effective methods for light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy are presented.
