The article is a response to the problem of quenching media monitoring during the industrial life cycle. The main aim of the experiment was to compare criteria for quenching oils evaluation. Therefore, it is of interest to provide an overview of the various methodologies that may be used by the user of these standards for data analyses and reporting. In the article there is an experiment which described changes of quenching power during an operational lifetime. Another experiment observed dependence of quenching characteristics and amount of water present in the oil. The cooling curves reported were obtained according to ISO 9950. From these curves, oil Hardenning Power was calculated as well as the cooling rate area (from 600°C to 300°C). Tamura´s V value provides a very good comparison of the CCT curves for different steel alloys. Calculation of CCT diagrams for particular chemical composition was calculated by JMatPro software. For evaluation of quenching oils, the C35 steel was used. The experiment output is a recommendation of which parameter is the most important for the quenching service. As an experimental oils Houghto Quench C120, Paramo TK 22, Paramo TK 46, CS Noro MO 46 a Durixol W72 was used.
