Gears and shafts are critical components that play a significant role in automotive industry. During the manufacture of precision gears and shafts, various heat treatment steps are required to achieve the required dimensions, surface hardness, and toughness cores of the given component. The aim of the article is to evaluate the changes in the properties of cemented layers that occur due to temperature changes. Metallography, surface hardness, microhardness profile and surface roughness were evaluated for the formed layers. The results showed that the surface hardness and depth of the cemented layer increase with increasing temperature.
