Alloying options and heat treatment of EN AW 3003 alloy
EN AW 3003 alloy is used for its excellent formability, corrosion resistance and weldability. The paper describes the possibilities of modifying the chemical composition of this alloy. The influence of alloying elements on the properties of this alloy was investigated. Alloy AW 3003 was modified with scandium, nickel, hafnium, and strontium. Twenty kilograms of ingots were cast from every modified alloy. These alloys were rolled into thin sheets or foils on which the individual experiments were carried out. The temperatures of the solidus, liquidus and the beginning of recrystallization were studied. The ultimate and yield strengths at room temperature and at temperatures above 500°C were compared. Corrosion resistance was evaluated using the SWAAT test.
