The influence of heat treatment on the interface of multi-material AM components – POSTER
The scientific study investigates the influence of heat treatment (HT) on the interface microstructures of multi-material components. The research aims to understand t h e impact of HT on the microstructural transition zone (MTZ) above the fusion line. Optimal HT parameters were chosen for individual alloys, and mechanical properties were assessed through miniaturized testing, including hardness measurements. The sequence of material application did not significantly affect the final mechanical tensile properties in the HT states, but a noticeable decrease in hardness was observed at the interface due to microstructural changes in the MTZ. The study demonstrates the fabrication of heat-treated multi-material AM components in a horizontal configuration, forming high-quality metallurgical joints between heterogeneous materials using a directed energy deposition method.
