Use of low-energy waste heat in heat treatment of metals

Masčuch Jakub - ČVUT Praha (Czech Republic)

Different ways to manage energy efficiency and energy savings are among the top priorities for large energy-consuming industrial sectors, such as the field of heat treatment of metals. Heat treatment technologies are inherently very energy-consuming, and the extraction of heat from low-energy waste heat is particularly challenging.

CVUT UCEEB, as a professional institution with a long history of systematic research and development in the field of advanced waste heat management, has prepared a report in collaboration with ATZK (Association for Heat Treatment of Metals) on the options for utilizing different sources of waste heat. The paper provides proposals and offers guidance in the optimization of innovative approaches to the use of waste heat in metal heat processing operations.
