How the material analysis can help to solve the manufacturing problems

Currently, there are many methods of material analysis, from microstructure analysis with an optical microscope, through hardness measurement to various analyses at the nano scale. These methods have their role both in the development of new materials and their processing technologies, but they can also help reveal the cause of defects or prevent them. This paper tries to use examples to outline the way to use the available methods economically and efficiently on the basis of the materials engineering knowledge in order to minimize undesirable effects on the production and quality of products, especially in heat treatment operations.
