Tempering and tempering furnaces – a persistent problem in decision making
Tempering or annealing are inherent heat treatment operations. Despite the fact that this is a minority problem for most investors, they are mainly focused on hardening operations. However, investing in the right tempering or annealing furnace is of fundamental importance to the economics of the heat treatment plant, often with a greater impact on the efficiency of the heat treatment than the quenching furnace itself. The lecture discusses some aspects that must be taken into account when deciding how to choose such a tempering furnace and what the economic consequences of our decision may be.
