The influence of different methods of deep cryogenic treatment on the mechanical properties of selected tool steels for cold work
This study builds upon previous research investigating the effects of deep cryogenic treatment on the mechanical properties of tool steels 1.2379 and Vanadis 23. The aim of this work was to compare the effects of different cryogenic treatment regimes on the hardness, bending strength, and wear resistance of these materials. Two different approaches were examined: deep cryogenic treatment at -196 °C after quenching followed by a single high-temperature tempering, and deep cryogenic treatment after multiple tempering cycles followed by a low-temperature tempering. Experimental results demonstrated that altering the sequence of heat treatment operations significantly influenced the achieved mechanical properties.
